TUESDAY UPDATE

In the interest of safety for our students, staff, and parents, Luling ISD will operate under a 2 hour delay. Schools will start at 10am on Friday, February 12th.
We will check road conditions tomorrow morning, and if any further changes are necessary, we will notify families.

Student Council members were inducted in front of family and friends. We are looking forward to a great year!

We are currently monitoring the weather in our area and will continue to do so through the weekend. The district will notify families of any changes to school operations once they have been determined. All communication to families will be made via the website and all social media accounts.
Monday, February 15th is a student holiday.

NED's Mindset Mission is a character education program that centers around three important messages that have lifelong relevance: Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best. During the assembly, students will learn about the importance of these three life skills while also enjoying storytelling, magic, humor and yo-yo tricks.

Lady Eagles 2nd in District and headed to the playoffs for 3rd consecutive year!

We are proud of our school counselors and their dedication to our students!

Over the next several weeks during guidance lessons students will learn how to help manage their emotions which can improve relationships and academic performance. This week introduces the relationship between the “thinking part” and the “feeling part” of the brain. When emotions are really strong it can be difficult to use the “thinking part” of the brain and emotions can run the show unless steps are taken to calm down.

Congratulations to Mrs. Humphries, our February “Spotlight Staff Member of the Month”! Mrs. Humphries is hard working and goes above and beyond the call of duty. She is very positive and caring to all of the students at Shanklin. Thank you for all that you do!

The February Principal's Student of the Month is Makayla Busto, a 3rd grader at Shanklin Elementary. Makayla is always polite and courteous to her peers and to the staff. Congratulations for being a shining star!

Luling ISD celebrates Black History Month! Our schools will highlight the history and contributions of African Americans throughout February.

TODAY

Students have been learning about empathy, which is understanding how others feel. This week’s guidance lesson teaches students how to move from not only feeling empathy but taking action and showing compassion toward others. Saying something kind or asking someone if they need help are two simple ways students have been challenged to show compassion for others and foster an inclusive school environment.

REMINDER

This is a great time to practice the self-management skill of intentionality. Challenge your students to be intentional by creating a social-emotional learning At Home: #GOAL list for this new year!

This FRIDAY, 1/29, Primary Campus will release at 11:50. Elementary, JH and HS will release at 12:00. Teachers and Staff will have planning time in the afternoon.
